Fall 2026 Welcome Week Schedule
Don’t miss out on these opportunities for both new and returning students to connect and engage with campus resources and the local community. All events are designed to better connect you with the available resources and support you need to be successful and make Potomac State your home. You belong here. Please try to participate in all the activities and meet as many people as possible during your first week on campus. Doing so will enable you to get off to a great start!

Move In for ALL Residential Students Check in at the Mary F. Shipper Library upon arrival. Staff will be at the campus entrance and throughout campus with signage to direct you to parking and unloading zones. Unloading zones should only be used for 15 minutes or less. |

Lunch on the Quad (All Students and Guests welcome) |

Living on Campus Presentation Mandatory for all new residence hall students. Held in the Davis Conference Center. |

Resident Assistant (RA) Led Tours Not sure where your classes are? Where to park? Get lunch? Take a tour of campus to ensure your first day of class is a smooth one. Commuter students should meet tour guides in the Student Union. Residence hall students should meet tour guides at the flagpole on the Quad. |

11 a.m. |
Convocation (Mandatory for all first-time students.) Meet on the Quad by 10:45 a.m.. Student guides will escort everyone to the Lough Gym. The program is designed to set the tone for the start of the semester and help you remember your purpose for attending Potomac State. |

12 p.m. |
Lunch & Games Enjoy a great BBQ and compete with PSC faculty, staff, and fellow Catamounts in yard games such as corn hole, Jenga, and more! Event is on the Quad. |

1:30 p.m. or 2 p.m. |
Exploration Day Students can choose between two options: Sign up here Jennings Randolpf Lake Trip. Enjoy the summer weather at Shaw Beach. Swim, lounge in the sand, or hike the park trails. Depart from campus at 1:30 pm and return at 5 pm (total of 2.5 hours at the state park).
Paint and Sip in the Student Union. Mingle with fellow students, enjoy fun mocktails, and create a custom door sign.

Important Reminders
AlcoholEdu – a Required Online Module
All first-time freshmen and transfer students are required to complete the online wellness course, “AlcoholEdu”. Students will receive instructions via email to their MIX account soon. Be sure to stay on top of the deadlines to avoid charges added to your student account. You can also access AlcoholEdu online .
Title IX Essentials – a Required Online Module
All first-time freshmen and transfer students are required to complete “Title IX Essentials for Students” upon enrollment through Blackboard eCampus. If students do not complete the training within the required timeframe, a registration hold will be placed on student accounts, which prevents them from registering for classes, until they complete the module.
Student IDs
Students must submit their photo either online OR in-person during their New Student Orientation to receive their student ID. Specific details are available online. Residence hall students can pick up their ID on Move-in Day during check-in. Commuter students can pick up their ID from the service desk in the Administration Building between 9 am and 4 pm, beginning Monday, August 17.
